Kiefer currently lives and works in the Philadelphia
area. She has shown and sold her work regularly since
the completion of her BFA from Moore College of Art
and Design in 1999.
She works with oils, watercolors, textiles, and incorporates
mixed media while she pursues pure abstraction with
collage elements. The theme of her paintings relates
to outside environmental influences and how one’s
perceptions shape the world in which they live. The
shape, line, and color all interact within the individual
world of each painting created, while the collage elements
add another layer of interest and texture.
When she paints she enjoys the process, but also hopes
that the viewer can connect with her work. She states,
“I hope that the viewer can lose themselves in
the meditative environment contained in my paintings.
At the same time it’s important to me that the
viewer be able to bring their own experiences to my
work and interpret its meaning for themselves. In this
way the viewer can feel a personal connection with my
work."
Katrina continues to work in her studio, and is an active
member of the Philadelphia Chapter of the Women's Caucus
for Art.
